This was the first carbon-plated racing shoe I had ever tried, having previously attempted to beat my PBs in more flexible nylon-plated shoes.
The cushioning provided in the midsole of the Pro 5 meant that I felt no impact on my knees, which I had expected. It took me significantly less time to finish a 10K race, and I felt the propulsion from beginning to end.
Having built up my stamina and speed with the Endorphin Speed 5, also from the Saucony Endorphin Collection, I was able to efficiently utilise the Endorphin Pro 5 to the level it required.
Capitalising on tried-and-tested features, Saucony has impressed once more by implementing valuable changes. The transition from heel to toe is seamless, the effects of the carbon plate are felt immediately – ideal for race day!
| Product | Comparison |
| Asics Magic Speed | Slightly lighter shoe with more responsive feel. Not as cushioned. Unisex fit is a bit snugger fit for male runners. Similar propulsion from carbon plate. |
| New Balance SuperComp Rebel | Similar weight and amount of cushioning. The Carbon Infused propulsion plate is more versataile – can be used in training as well as racing. Less propulsive. Lower 4mm offset makes it ideal for midfoot or forefoot runners. |
| Saucony Endorphin Speed 5 | Little bit heavier. Not so propulsive due to the nylon plate, which is more versatile – can be used for rasing and training. Same 8mm offset. |
| Brooks Ghost Amp | No carbon plate but SpringRamp technology creates push forward. Not so propulsive, more responsive and heavier. Lower price-point for a fast shoe. Lower 6mm offset for midfoot or forefoot runners. |
