In Testing

I’ve always got on well with Brooks shoes, so I was really excited to give this model a try. My first impression was just how incredibly lightweight the shoes felt on my feet. They have a simple, streamlined look which and really like.

One thing I noticed was that the size comes up slightly smaller and a little narrower than the Ghost 18, so I would recommend going up half a size. I’m normally a 6.5 in running shoes, but after finding that size too small, I opted for a 7, which felt much more comfortable.

Once I’d got the sizing right, I couldn’t wait to get out for a gentle run. Straight away I noticed how light the shoes felt. The combination of PEBA and EVA foams gives a lovely balance of softness, responsiveness and stability. The Ghost Amp feels very comfortable without feeling too heavy.
I also found that the shoes held my foot nicely, with no annoying heel slip, which is something I often experience in running shoes. The ride felt really natural – it followed my stride, giving a smooth transition from heel to toe.

What surprised me most was the feeling of propulsion. There’s a noticeable sense of being pushed forwards, which helped me pick up the pace without feeling like I was working too hard.

For me, the Ghost Amp is a great option for anyone looking for a lightweight, responsive shoe without a plate. I think it works well for faster sessions and tempo runs, or days when you want to get a bit faster without sacrificing comfort.

Verdict

If you’ve had Brooks shoes in the past and are looking for something with a familiar feel but a little more speed, I would definitely give them a try. They offer a really nice balance of comfort, stability and responsiveness. I think they are a great option if you're looking for something a little faster without a plate.
