An evening for those in their final phase of training before Edinburgh Marathon Festival race weekend. Whatever distance you are running – 5k, 10k, relay, half marathon or full marathon – here is a chance to hear from experienced runners how to be at your best on race day, and how to run your perfect race. Common race day mistakes will also be covered – things like your race pace, regular / sufficient fuelling to avoid the wall, getting too cold before the start, running posture etc.
Matt Holland. The Perfect Taper.
Matt is an experienced coach and endurance athlete who also runs Improve My Running where he teaches running technique, rehabilitation and performance. He will describe the perfect taper, with easy tips on how you can train smart the last three weeks to be at your best on race day, as well as setting a realistic goal.

In easy to understand ideas, Ross will draw from his experience, with his top tips for a successful race weekend, covering things like how to handle the nervous “day before syndrome” and planning your race pace, how he fuels to avoid the wall, and how you can keep motivated etc.
The Run and Become staff, who have run over a 100 marathons between them, will offer their top tips on do’s and dont’s and last minute “kit panics”.
There will also be a general question and answer session involving all speakers.
