Japhet Koech: Run Like a Kenyan

Monday 1st June 2015

6:30pm - 7:30pm

Run and Become, 20 Queensferry Street, Edinburgh, EH2 4QW

Come and hear how to “Run Like a Kenyan”. An informal hour or so, with Japhet Koech.

Japhet Koech is a Kenyan marathon runner form Iten, high in the African rift valley. He features in Andarnand Finn’s best selling book, Running with the Kenyans. For two years, with the help of EMF and some crowd funding by Andarnand, Japhet has come to Edinburgh and run the Marathon.

Last year he came second in the Edinburgh Marathon in a time of 2.16.29, a new personal best.

His is a special story. He is returning to Edinburgh this year to run the marathon. The next day he will bring his tired legs to Run and Become, where you can meet him and find out about “How to run like a Kenyan.”  He is by no means the fastest Kenyan marathon runner in the world, but his story is fascinating.

  • His upbringing and daily life in Kenya
  • How friends helped him to travel from Kenya to compete Internationally
  • How he and other Kenyans train
  • And more
  • A unique opportunity
