A wide toe-box doesn’t translate to a wide midfoot – it’s a standard width, so those with broad feet may find them too narrow.

In Testing

I tried the Aura shoes for their wider toe box, which delivered plenty of room and comfort. I liked the idea of letting my toes spread and seeing how that, with the 5mm heel drop, would affect my running posture. The cushioning is really soft but springy, so it’s fun to run in them. I don’t notice the lower heel-drop, it feels natural, and I feel like my toes are more active and working better to propel me through each stride.

Verdict

Topo Aura's anatomical toe-box provides extra room for natural toe-splay, which is beneficial for the feet and also the posture, as it encourages toes to be more active. The support is moderate and unobtrusive, and the cushioning is great for any mileage. A fun shoe to run in, which is good for the feet.
