The heel-drop differs significantly from Arahi 7. It's now 8mm instead of 5mm, catering more to heel-strikers, rather than midfoot strikers.

In Testing

This was my first pair of Hoka running shoes, and I was certainly not disappointed during any of my long-distance runs or walks. Hoka's popularity in regards to its high level of cushioning felt completely justified – my body felt less shock and more comfort when hitting the surface. The rocker technology alongside the anti-pronation midsole provided great logistical benefits. I noticed my runs improve in efficiency and stability, with less impact on the joints.

The wide-fitting option was very useful for me, as it gave me the room I prefer whilst retaining all the standard benefits.

Verdict

This newest model of the Hoka Arahi has lived up to expectations. Suitable choice for all road conditions – and more than just running too! The Meta-rocker technology is applicable to any forward-motion activity, including use on walks and at work. Hoka continues its trailblazing role in the realm of running shoes, bringing with it a fresh approach that aptly claims to prioritise a soft and stable landing for every runner.
