Features

Upper

  • Wraps seamlessly around the foot, providing structure as well as breathability.

Midsole

  • HYPERBOLT+™, Hylo’s supercritical nitrogen-injected midsole foam, has been upgraded to offer greater responsiveness for a more powerful push off and support against over-pronation where needed.
  • A softer landing, which absorbs impact from road running, protecting joints.
  • Pureglide™ technology allows for a smoother ride.
  • Hylo’s shoe design is powered by Hyloop™, a recycling platform that allows you to return your shoes after they have been used so that the material can by recycled.

Outsole

  • Hylo uses TREADLIGHT SP™ grip technology, allowing you to feel more stable and confident on different surfaces.
  • This clever grip design, inspired by racing-car tyres, channels water away whilst providing reliable traction.

In Testing

I was interested in the grip on this shoe – which I know was inspired by racing-car tyres – as I’m nervous running in the rain on slick wet pavements. So far it’s been good – there’s not been much rain recently but when the pavements have been wet I’ve felt more confident in my stride.

I also like the fact that the shoes can be recycled. It makes me feel better to know I can return them to Hylo when they are worn out and they will be disposed of or recycled responsibly.

I’m not a fan of super soft cushioning, so these feel perfect for me, they feel light and the cushioning is comfortable. I need quite a bit of support and the midsole felt very stable, controlling every attempt my foot made to roll inwards.

For me the Axis offers a nice balance between being firm and well cushioned, I like wearing them when I’m on the shop floor all day too. Even though they are unisex fit, I’ve found them true to size and they fit me really well.

Verdict

This is a fantastic shoe if you’re looking for something supportive with good grip on wetter surfaces. It’s structured, breathable and the perfect balance between something firmer and a bit more cushioned.
