Waterproof Running Jackets / Sustainable Running Clothing
Stay warm and dry without sacrificing comfort, in Ronhill’s latest waterproof running jacket. Ronhill Storm Jacket can cope with the harshest weather. It offers a relaxed, adjustable fit for personalised comfort.
This a measure of how well a fabric can withstand water penetration and how well it can protect you in wet weather. The higher the number the greater the protection. For example, garments with ratings of 10–20k are very waterproof, perfect for when it's pouring down, whereas those with ratings of 2k-5k are suited to lighter rain and showers. At 25k this jacket is superb.
This is a measure of how much moisture vapour from sweat that a garment lets out. This is an especially important feature for outdoor clothing as it helps to regulate body temperature and increases comfort. Again, the higher the number the greater the breathability, so fabrics with 20k breathability or higher are considered very breathable and better for more intense workouts.
Generally speaking there will be a trade-off between a fabric's waterproof properties and its breathability. A windproof jacket will generally be more breathable than a totally waterproof jacket. At 35k this jacket is exceptionally breathable for the amount of rain protection it offers. For running in challenging weather, it gives you the best of both worlds.
When I wore the Ronhill Storm Jacket for the first time, one thing that struck me was how incredibly light it felt, almost like I wasn’t wearing a jacket at all! The material feels very high-quality and built to withstand even the windiest, wettest conditions.
The fit gives plenty of room to layer up on colder days, and the slightly longer sleeves offer a bit of extra protection for my hands. Normally, I’m not a fan of running jackets – they often tend to flap around or feel stiff, especially the Gore-Tex ones – however, this jacket really surprised me. It sits comfortably and doesn’t rustle in the wind. It also has adjustable toggles on either side for a more personalised fit, and to further protect me from the elements.
I love the spacious front pocket. It’s ideal for keeping essentials like keys or other possessions whilst on a run. There is also an inner pocket for additional storage.
The roll-away hood is very convenient as well, quick to pull up when it rains and easy to tuck away when it clears. This makes the jacket versatile for all kinds of activities, not just running.
Ever since I got this jacket it’s been my go-to for wet and windy days. This season I never leave home for a run without it! It’s lightweight, easy to move in, and roomy enough to layer up without feeling bulky when I run. It’s also made from 100% polyamide, a durable recycled material. You can tell it’s been designed for real runners with real weather in mind.
