In Testing

I’ve tried plenty of trail running shoes in my time and have always seemed to gravitate towards what Salomon has to offer. The S/Lab Ultra Glide, however, seemed far out of my comfort zone when I first came across it. That is due to how intensely cushioned these looked from an aesthetic point of view. When I did put them on for a brisk jog in my local park, they didn’t feel excessive at all. On the contrary, I felt that my trail runs with the S/Lab Ultra Glide were noticeably easier, less impactful and more comfortable. The dual foam technology works well because of the combination of lightweight cushioning and fast energy return. The tread depth was ideal for my hybrid runs and remained resilient even in the wettest of weather conditions.

Verdict

Minimising foot fatigue on tough terrain, the S/Lab Ultra Glide performs a marriage of comfort and performance. Suitable for everyday miles on and off the road, should provide runners with the ability to run more efficiently and effortlessly throughout the seasons.
