In Testing

The Lone Peak 9+ trail running shoes have received positive evaluations for their exceptional grip, cushioning, and breathability, making them ideal for various terrains. In my experience on rugged trails, Altra Ego foam offered great comfort for long distances, and the outsole provided reliable traction on wet and dry surfaces.

The breathable mesh kept my feet cool, and the roomy toe box allowed for natural foot splay, which I really appreciated during steep descents. Overall, they enhanced my confidence on technical trails and made my runs more enjoyable.

Verdict

Altra's Lone Peak has become somewhat a classic shoe for many trail lovers. I personally didn't find the zero-drop an issue at all. Maybe alternating with your existing shoes for a while to enable you to adjust.

Despite the wide toe-box, they are snug around the midfoot and ankle making for an incredibly good fit.  Although it is not a stiff heel collar, the strategic placing of the heel overlays gives you the feeling of control that some softer heel tabs don't give you.

If you loved previous editions of the Lone Peak, the latest update won't disappoint. In a low profile shoe, you still feel protected for many miles of impact. The latest Lone Peak is well worth taking a closer look at.
