Supplied as a powder, it needs to be mixed with 200ml of water in a soft flask and consumed on the go. The texture sits between a drink mix and a gel. Each 125g sachet delivers an impressive 120g of carbohydrates and 480 kcal, providing a high-carbohydrate fuelling solution for extended endurance sessions. Gel Mix 480 is a carbohydrate-rich sports drink with each serving delivering a massive 120 grams of carbs as well as essential salts (electrolytes) to replenish those lost through your sweat and keep your muscles working at their best. Each serving is mixed with 200ml of water for a taste-free drink that is free from colours and preservatives and can be consumed before and during exercise.
Gel Mix 480 is suitable for longer intense workouts including marathon training – sessions over 2 hours long.
The ingredients are: Maltodextrin, Fructose, Pectin, Sodium Alginate (from seaweed) and Sodium Chloride (Salt) – nothing more and nothing less than what’s needed.
Built on hydrogel technology, when mixed with water, you get a sports drink that contains a high concentration of Maltodextrin and Fructose. The Maurten sports drink instantly converts to hydrogel when it comes into contact with the acidity of the stomach. This hydrogel then enables a smooth transit of the drink through the stomach to the intestine where the water, salt and carbohydrates can be absorbed. The function of the Hydrogel Technology is the same as in the rest of the Maurten range, designed to reduce the gastrointestinal stress that comes with highly concentrated carbohydrate solutions.
How does it work
Gel Mix 480 is pH-sensitive, once consumed it forms a hydrogel in the acidity of the stomach. This change encapsulates the carbohydrates, carrying them through the stomach to be absorbed and used as fuel. The function of the Hydrogel Technology is the same as in the rest of the Maurten range, designed to reduce the gastrointestinal stress that comes with highly concentrated carbohydrate solutions.
How to prepare
- Fill a soft flask with 200 ml of water.
- Pour in one 125g sachet of Gel Mix 480
- Shake the flask vigorously until dissolved
- Let the mix rest for 5 minutes before consuming

- Ingredients: Maltodextrin, fructose, gelling agents (xanthan gum, sodium alginate, pectin), acidity regulator (sodium bicarbonate).
