Verdict

I was converted to Nuun a few years back. Before that I used messy electrolyte powders you had to measure out and add the correct amount of water to. Nuun is so much easier: I just drop 1 tablet into a large glass of water (half a litre is easy to guess) or a 500 ml bottle of water if I'm taking it on the go.

The day after a long run I always used to feel nauseous and find it hard to eat even though I was quite hungry. A friend suggested this was probably caused by dehydration, so after the next long run I took some Nuun straight after the run and again the next morning and I was fine. Since then I always take Nuun after running and I no longer have the problem.

I keep a pack of Nuun in my bag at all times. Working in the shop can be very dehydrating, especially in summer – climbing stairs, climbing ladders and talking all day mean you lose a lot of fluid. Taking Nuun in the afternoon helps prevent the headaches and difficulty concentrating that can bring on.

I also take it with me if I'm going on a long-haul flight. A tube of Nuun is small and easy to pack and they'll let you through Security with it, they won't let you through with a bottle of Lucozade.

Importantly, it tastes nice. I like the Strawberry Lemonade and Grape flavours. Citrus is also perfectly palatable. Cola is an acquired taste although we have some customers who love it.

I'm converted. I never go anywhere without it.
