This beautifully designed Janji Runterra Bio Tank is first synthetic-blend running tank that biodegrades like a 100% cotton tee. With its casual look this garment is suitable for any type of activity, from running to gym training. This fantastic layer offers the enhanced moisture and odour control of specially-formulated 37.5® polyester with the comfort and versatility of cotton. This new, innovative fabric breaks down into organic compounds significantly faster than conventional polyester which takes over four hundred years. Run in it, sweat in it, live in it — then biodegrade it!
Runterra is made from premium, long-staple Supima® cotton which is 50% longer and up to 45% stronger than other cottons (and softer, too). The stronger the fiber, the more durable the garment, and therefore the more it can be worn. Supima® cotton is grown by a select few family farms that utilize advanced water and soil management techniques to reduce consumption and ensure the health of the land for optimal renewability. Runterra fabric is also OEKO-TEX® certified, meaning it is free from harmful chemicals and is fabricated in a way that meets a high environmental standard.
Janji was founded over 10 years ago by two college track mates (Dave & Mike) in the city of Boston. Their aim was to create a brand that had a purpose beyond high-performance gear and actually used running as a mechanism to give back to communities. That's where the name 'Janji' originated from – it means ‘promise’ in Indonesian. Their promise was to expand access to clean water around the globe.
Each season is inspired by a location. They then also partner with a water charity in that location and donate 2% of every sale to support their clean water projects. Sustainability of the brand is a key pillar in how Janji was founded. All of their materials are either Bluesign Certified, OKEO-Tex certified or both. More and more of their products each season are being developed using recycled fabrics. Their DWR finish is now completely PFC-free, while still maintaining the same 30k waterproof rating.
