This is the second incarnation of Hoka One One's fastest racing shoe: Carbon X 2. The carbon-fibre plate propels you forward from footstrike to toe-off to enhance your speed. The designers of this new version focused on improving the fit by upgrading the engineered mesh upper with embroidered TPU yarns, as well as a slimmer, jagged tongue and refined heel collar to offer you additional security and comfort.

The new engineered mesh upper is sleeker, to maintain a secure, close-to-the foot fit. The extended TPU yarns are reinforced around the lace loops to offer you an adjustable option to make sure your foot fits. The new gusseted tongue is slimmer and notched to hold your foot steadily locked in place.
The new Carbon fibre plate is 1mm thinner than in its predecessor, to make this excellent endurance racer shoe even lighter. The two layers of compression moulded EVA on the top and bottom of the Carbon plate are made from a softer and lighter foam, to promote bouncy cushioning and absorb the impact of running. The aggressive Meta-Rocker rocks your foot forward in a smooth and natural gait cycle. The upgraded geometry with extended heel offers you more cushioning when your foot strikes and also to make downhill running easier.
The extended heel tub makes this excellent racing shoe very easy to put on.
The lasting outsole rubber is same as in the previous version.

HOW TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT SIZE FOR RUNNING SHOES
Your running shoe size will generally be 1 to 1.5 sizes bigger than your regular (‘dress’) shoe size. Bear in mind also that one foot can be slightly bigger than the other.
LENGTH
First, kick your foot back into the heel of each shoe before checking how much space is left at the front. When standing in each shoe with your full weight on the foot, it’s best to have between half and a full thumb's width between the end of the longest toe and the end of the shoe.
WIDTH
When standing in the shoe, it’s best to have a little wiggle room for the toes, but the back of heel should still feel nicely secure.
SPIKES
Sprint spikes are best when a close fit. Distance spikes best when up to a half a thumb's width between the end of the longest toe and the end of the shoe.
