Arahi 5 Wide is Hoka One One's well cushioned supportive road running shoe in a wide fitting. Version 5 is redesigned from top to bottom to deliver your feet more comfort and better structure. The dynamic support is more flexible to give you a smooth ride. The improved engineered mesh upper is open at the forefoot to increase breathability. Although a 'wide' fit, Hoka shoes aren't the most generous in width, so this is not as wide as the equivalent in Brooks and New Balance. Also available in a wide fitting.
Details
Upper:
The designers focused mainly on refining of the upper in Arahi 5 to bring you a running trainer with better fit and improved comfort. The structured engineered mesh upper at the heel maintains a secure hold for your feet through the midfoot. The open mesh at the forefoot offers more breathability. The pull tab finish on the heel collar reduces tension on the Achilles and makes it easy to put on or take off.
Midsole:
Arahi 5 keeps its well cushioned and lightweight properties. The EVA J-Frame in the midsole is made from firmer EVA material to reduce over-pronation of your feet and keep them in a neutral position. Hoka redesigned the EVA J-Frame support so now it is more flexible, allowing easy movement after each foot strike and transition onto your toe-off. The Early-stage Meta-Rocker technology also enhances your forward movement in a smooth ride. The midsole with a full length of soft EVA cushioning provides your feet with soft bounciness and shock absorption.
Outsole:
The typical wider Hoka base outsole provides you with extra stability when you land. The rubber outsole is more durable and reinforced in the high wear areas for durability.

HOW TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT SIZE FOR RUNNING SHOES
Your running shoe size will generally be 1 to 1.5 sizes bigger than your regular (‘dress’) shoe size. Bear in mind also that one foot can be slightly bigger than the other.
LENGTH
First, kick your foot back into the heel of each shoe before checking how much space is left at the front. When standing in each shoe with your full weight on the foot, it’s best to have between half and a full thumb's width between the end of the longest toe and the end of the shoe.
WIDTH
When standing in the shoe, it’s best to have a little wiggle room for the toes, but the back of heel should still feel nicely secure.
SPIKES
Sprint spikes are best when a close fit. Distance spikes best when up to a half a thumb's width between the end of the longest toe and the end of the shoe.
