The women's Brooks Cascadia 16 features 2mm of added bouncy foam in the midsole to provide softer cushioning and more comfort. The small renovations on the upper, midsole and outsole make this excellent trail shoe highly technical, designed to help you tackle even the toughest trails. Also available in a D (wide) fitting and a GTX (waterproof) version.

Details

The designers at Brooks have added 2mm of DNA LOFT v2 foam to the midsole, making the shoe lighter than its predecessor and providing a softer feeling underfoot for increased comfort. With the added cushioning Brooks Cascadia 16 now sits in their cushioned trail category, designed to protect and comfort the foot even over the toughest long distance trails.

The engineered mesh upper is seamless and breathable with all-round reinforcement, offering a secure structure to hold the foot. The gusset tongue is integrated to keep out small debris.

The upgraded Ballistic Rock Shield is now more flexible. Together with the ‘release’ grooves in the midsole, this helps the shoe to adapt to uneven terrain and offers better contact with the ground. Its primary function is to shield the feet against debris, pebbles and hard rocks. The durable TrailTack rubber on the outsole is sticky, ensuring outstanding traction on either wet or dry terrain.

HOW TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT SIZE FOR RUNNING SHOES
Your running shoe size will generally be 1 to 1.5 sizes bigger than your regular (‘dress’) shoe size. Bear in mind also that one foot can be slightly bigger than the other.

LENGTH
First, kick your foot back into the heel of each shoe before checking how much space is left at the front. When standing in each shoe with your full weight on the foot, it’s best to have between half and a full thumb's width between the end of the longest toe and the end of the shoe.

WIDTH
When standing in the shoe, it’s best to have a little wiggle room for the toes, but the back of heel should still feel nicely secure.

SPIKES
Sprint spikes are best when a close fit. Distance spikes best when up to a half a thumb's width between the end of the longest toe and the end of the shoe.
