This is the  running biography  of Donald (Don) Ritchie.

The quiet unassuming Scotsman has been proclaimed  the best ultra runner of the 20th century. Donald has achieved World Best Performances at distances ranging from 50km to 200km (124.4 miles); and from 6 hours to 24 hours. His 100km time of 6.10.20, an average pace of 5.59 minutes per mile set on the track at Crystal Palace in October 1978, is still the best recorded time for the 100km distance.

The book covers his humble beginnings in rural Scotland, early athletic adventures with Abedeen AC, to some of his epic world record setting races.  In Donald's own words it relates  how he developed from an aspiring 400 metre runner in his teens to become an ultra running icon, revered, not just by Ultra runners, but by athletes around the world.
