Altra claim the 4.0 is their best Lone Peak ever. This zero drop, foot-shaped trail running shoe has undergone some technical enhancements to improve performance and durability. The upper is now a harder wearing rip stop mesh to go the distance and protect your feet on unforgiving terrain. It includes a better integrated tongue for an improved midfoot fit and added drainage capacity to let the water out if your run takes you through puddles or streams.

On the outsole, an upgraded grippier MaxTrac rubber tread grips the ground in wet and dry conditions. More aggressive, deeper carved lugs cut through soft ground and release mud more quickly to give you a stronger toe off and better traction. The TrailClaw outsole’s been redesigned to make the lugs less likely to shear off on sharp rocks
A new skeletal StoneGuard design – shaped like the bones of your foot - flexes over the bumps underfoot so your whole foot doesn’t end up getting tilted when you go over a rock thus reducing the risk of turning an ankle. A Bound cushioning absorbs shock and protects your feet.
A four point gaiter Trap allows you to fit gaiters securely if you need to.
