Altra's first road running shoe with a higher, 4mm offset. Any neutral runner looking for a comfortable and highly technical shoe, give it a try.
Read more »We are pleased to introduce the first Altra road running shoe with a higher (4mm) offset. FWD Experience is great for runners who don't get on with zero drop and prefer a bit more rise at the heel. The toe-box shaped Footshape Fit offers your toes space to splay, giving them great proprioception and helping to encourage your feet to maintain a neutral gait.
The FWD Experience midsole is compression moulded to offer you excellent rebound, absorption of impact and long-term durability. The new Rocker system in the midsole encourages an efficient stride by rocking you forward, which also helps to improve your speed, along with the fact that this is a lightweight shoe.
The mesh upper is seam-free, engineered to hold your feet in a comfy structure. It is also lightweight and breathable. The heel counter extension makes pulling them on and off that bit easier.
Altra was born of the research and curiosity of Golden Harper who, determined to improve his running experience, decided to create a shoe with Zero Drop. All it took was an oven toaster and an existing shoe to remove the midsole, and Voilà! He gave birth to the first Altra running shoe, changing the world of running.
After years of tinkering and prototyping, Altra were ready to introduce their three key features – Foot-Shape, Fit4Her and Zero Drop – for which they’ve won multiple awards like Editor’s Choice Award for the best winter trail shoe.
The Altra range truly achieves its goal of making shoes that are healthy – for your feet, your posture and for our planet. Yes, their running shoes are also 100% vegan! By 2030, they are committed to using 100% regenerative, responsible, renewable, or recycled materials. We are so rooting for them.

HOW TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT SIZE FOR RUNNING SHOES
Your running shoe size will generally be 1 to 1.5 sizes bigger than your regular (‘dress’) shoe size. Bear in mind also that one foot can be slightly bigger than the other.
LENGTH
First, kick your foot back into the heel of each shoe before checking how much space is left at the front. When standing in each shoe with your full weight on the foot, it’s best to have between half and a full thumb's width between the end of the longest toe and the end of the shoe.
WIDTH
When standing in the shoe, it’s best to have a little wiggle room for the toes, but the back of heel should still feel nicely secure.
SPIKES
Sprint spikes are best when a close fit. Distance spikes best when up to a half a thumb's width between the end of the longest toe and the end of the shoe.
