Tim Etherington-Judge raising awareness for better mental health

Tim will be finishing his 11th marathon in this challenge on the doorstep of Run and Become. He will have a drink, take a breath and then share with us the reasons and experiences that have led him to do this incredible run.

About Tim

Tim Etherington-JudgeMy name is Tim Etherington-Judge and for a large part of my life I’ve suffered with depression. In 2016, whilst working as a global brand ambassador for an internationally famous whiskey, at the Athens Bar Show I attempted to take my own life. I was diagnosed with severe depression, in part cause by my lifestyle.

I’ve been an advocate for better mental health in the hospitality industry, and society in general, ever since that day when I decided to talk publicly and openly about my struggles that’re all too familiar to those in the world’s service industry. I founded Healthy Hospo, a not-for-profit aimed at tackling this problem head on and began the conversation to build a healthier, happier hospitality industry.

On January 9 2019 I turned 42 years old, conveniently the same distance as a marathon and I plan to take my mission to the next level, to create as much attention, support and money as I can for improving the mental health of the hospitality industry by putting it all on the line and pushing my mind and body to the very edge.

To do this I’m going to run. I’m going to run a damn long way and it’s going to take every ounce of effort I have to do it, but it’s going to be worth it because we need to take the mental health of people in our industry seriously.
