The Montane Tor des Geants is acknowledged to be one of the toughest trail races in the world. Unlike several races of this distance that are run as stage races, this is a non-stop 330km (205mile) circuit in the Alps that involves a combined 24,000 metres of climb.
Competitors have 150 hours (6 days, 6 hours) to complete the course. It has been described as “inspirational and insane” in equal measure for the demands it places on the runners.
Great Britain and Scottish ultra distance international, Debbie Martin-Consani undertook this epic challenge in September. She finished 18th in a quality international field. She will be at Run and Become to relate her story of the event and how she prepared for it.
She is also sure to touch on other events she has run over the years. There will also be a general Q & A for you to tap into Debbie’s knowledge and experience of Ultra distance training and racing.
Most of her clothing and equipment for the race was provided by Montane. Debbie has been a wear tester and brand ambassador for them for several years. During the evening Jen Whelan from Montane will also talk about some of the technical elements Montane have, and are developing, to help runners cope better with possible conditions encountered in any distance event on the hills and trails.
There will be an on the night raffle for a Montane Primino base layer with supplemental prizes too TBC.
