Edinburgh Triathletes is one of the largest triathlon clubs in Scotland and the Scottish club champions of 2000 to 2002, 2004 to 2007 and 2009. At the present the club has over 150 members of all abilities.
They have Ironmen competitors, sprint specialists, duathletes and everything in between. The club organises regular formal and informal training sessions, time-trials, handicapped runs, and much more, including social events. They put on two of the biggest triathlons in Scotland: the 'New Years Day' and 'Gullane Beach' triathlons, and other events like the 'Ladies only Tri' and 'Kids Aquathlons'.
The club has several TriathlonScotland accredited coaches. Many club members have progressed from a complete novice to competing for GB at world championships.
Those interested to join are welcome to turn up at one of the training sessions, best are the Saturday morning cycle and swim sessions.
For most people a marathon is an achievement in itself. But some city folk choose to prolong the agony by adding on a swim and a cycle as well.
In the triathlon you're using all your muscles, rather than having the constant pounding on your legs.
