Edinburgh Podiatry Clinic, Andy Paul
Andy provides podiatry services to people with biomechanical problems which may be contributing to injury. This includes recreational athletes, non-sports and sports people at all levels. He also works with elite athletes from the Scottish Rugby Union, Scottish Institute of Sport and the Borders Athlete Support Program.
A biomechanical assessment could be beneficial to anyone who experiences persistent foot, leg, knee, hip or lower back pain. It involves an assessment of the range of joint movement and muscle function in the pelvis, legs and feet and identifies poor walking/running patterns (gait analysis). This is used to provide a treatment plan which may include footwear advice, therapeutic strapping, stretching exercises, custom made or pre-formed orthotics (insoles) and acupuncture. Orthotics are fitted to shoes and offer increased support allowing the feet and legs to function more efficiently or to provide offloading to an area to provide relief from symptoms.
Andy works out of Edinburgh Podiatry Clinic in the centrally located Dean Village, and at SPACE physiotherapy clinics on Dalry Road.
Andy also offers in-Store Podiatry checks at Run and Become »
Why Run and Become? I always recommend 'Run and Become' to all runners. The staff are extremely professional and always very helpful. Their depth of knowledge of running products is second to none and is derived from their obvious passion for the sport. They are also dedicated runners and organisers of running events. It is a pleasure working with them whilst gaining knowledge of the running shoes and products they sell.
