This is the mid-weight version in the Road-X range, this shoe offers a half way house for those looking to move to Barefoot running. It has the great Inov-8 fit and feel, with 2 arrow cushioning - the same as used in the many of their trail shoes - but sans studs, and a sticky rubber outersole. The Performance fit makes it a little narrower than the 255.
This shoe encourages natural proprioceptive running, using slight cushioning to protect your limbs as you adjust to a more natural running style. The level of cushioning equates to the average long distance racing shoe (but more durable) so you need to start with lower mileage until your body adjusts to a running style that can cope with the decrease in protection. In short, this shoe has the weight of a racing shoe but the feel of a barefoot shoe. At 233g. they're also perfect for racing.
