High Performance Running Form Workshop

On Wednesday October 10th, Run and Become hosted a talk by Jae Gruenke, as part of its ongoing training and inspiration evenings.

NVA's Speed of Light

Speed of Light, Edinburgh’s contribution to the London 2012 festival, kicks off on the 9th August and runs till the end of the month. The project will illuminate Arthur’s Seat, in a mass choreographed act of walking and endurance running. There are still a limited number of places reserved for experienced runners, so Speed of Light invite you to be one of their guest runners.

The Inner Runner

On the occasion of NVA's Speed of Light, a special edition pocket booklet is being produced for all the runners. It features inspirational poems and aphorisms by Sri Chinmoy. To launch the booklet (entitled The Inner Runner) award-winning author Alan Spence will read extracts and a short film will be screened on August 7th.

Run with Ron Hill: 28th March 2012

Run and Become has played host to many good runners over the years. It is not often we have a true running legend through the door. Wednesday 28th March saw Ron Hill visit us again.

Lynsey Sharp Opens the New Store in Edinburgh

Run and Become Edinburgh has been serving Scotland's runners for over 20 years at Haymarket, and has now relocated to 20 Queensferry Street in Edinburgh’s West End. The new store opened its doors on the 7th March 2012. Guest of honour was Lynsey Sharp, Scottish athlete of the year for 2011.

Marathons in Scotland 2012

Scotland has many fantastic marathons to choose from throughout the year. Big and small in participation numbers, all are the classic challenge of 26.2 miles! This is the selection for 2012, taking in Scotland's amazing scenery and hospitality.

There are not many ultra distance races held in mid winter. The vagaries of the weather are often given as a reason for this from an organisational point of view. However hundreds of like minded souls are regularly out on the hills, moors and fells in mid winter seeking enjoyment and challenges every weekend. Yamaa Trust Winter Ultra 2011

The event information on the Yamaa Trust website simply states, “A 10k walk/run or an ultra marathon on a section of the West Highland Way between Kinlochleven and Tyndrum (Ultra) or Bridge of Orchy and Tyndrum (10k). Entrance fee £30 (10k) or £40 (Ultra).” So the questions arise, what is the Yamaa Trust, how far is this ultra anyway, and what do you get for £40?
